Travel Training

Aubin Travel Training · In development with local authorities

Confidence today.
Independence tomorrow.

Helping young people develop the skills and confidence to travel independently.

Aubin Travel Training is one connected digital toolkit for travel trainers, learners and families. Trainers manage learners, routes and progress, young people practise and travel with the Aubin app, families stay in the loop, and every mastered route ends with a certificate for the EHCP review.

Travel trainers do amazing work. Their tools haven’t kept up.

Most travel training still runs on notebooks, printed route sheets, spreadsheets and phone calls.

Progress is hard to see

With dozens of learners, it’s hard to tell at a glance who is ready for the next step.

Evidence is hard to gather

Annual Reviews and EHCP meetings need clear proof of what a young person can now do.

Families are left wondering

Parents want to know how their child is getting on, and that help is there if something goes wrong.

Four parts, one programme

Aubin Travel Training adds a secure, signed-in layer to the Aubin journey planner, used only by the people in a council’s travel training programme.

For trainers and coordinators

ITT Dashboard

Your whole caseload in one place, grouped by school.

  • Learner profiles with age band, learning needs and travel experience
  • Journey logs with route, timings, delays and trainer notes
  • Milestones and progress through your own training stages

For learners and trainers

Training Mode

Practise in the classroom, then travel it for real.

  • Build a route with waypoints and compare ways to travel
  • Walk through it step by step before the first trip
  • Check in at each waypoint on the day
  • Score each session and add notes to the learner’s record

For parents and carers

Parental Portal

Peace of mind, with families in control of what’s shared.

  • Link to your child’s account with a simple code
  • See milestones and progress as they happen
  • Follow a journey live, only if you’ve agreed to it, and switch it off any time
  • Approve the routes your child will learn
For EHCP reviews

Digital Passport

Evidence of independence that a review can use.

  • A Travel Capability Certificate when a route is mastered
  • An evidence pack with the certificate, session summary and journey log
  • Ready for Annual Reviews, Preparing for Adulthood plans or your own systems
The Digital Passport and Certificate screen with a Travel Capability Certificate ready to download as a PDF and an area to upload evidence.

Who sees what

Three roles, each seeing only what they need.

Role How they sign in What they can see
Learner PIN or QR code from their trainer. No email needed. Their own journeys and waypoints
Trainer or coordinator Email, password and multi-factor authentication Learners on their caseload, the dashboard and exports
Parent or carer Invitation link, then a PIN. No full account. Their own child’s milestones, notifications and, if enabled, live location

Safe by design

  • No email address or real name needed from learners
  • Pseudonymous records, with identity held only by the trainer
  • Live location only with consent, and it can be switched off per journey or for good
  • Stress ratings are a trainer’s judgement, never an algorithm’s
  • Hosted in the UK, in a secure London data centre
  • A Data Processing Agreement with the council before any learner data is stored

Built on Aubin

A live journey planner for all of Great Britain

Every timetabled rail, metro, tram and bus service, with live National Rail times and live bus positions in many areas.

Designed with neurodivergent travellers

Clear steps, low-stress routes, a digital autism card, text to speech and colour settings.

Support that stays

Young people keep using Aubin after training ends, with one-tap “I need help” and “I am OK” messages to approved contacts.

Shaped with a council

Developed in discussion with a county council SEND travel training team.

  2. Safeguard

Data Processing Agreement and safeguarding agreed with your legal and DPO teams.

  3. Pilot

Aubin Travel Training is in development. Screens are from a working prototype and may change as we work with partner councils.

Questions

Is Aubin Travel Training available now?

Not yet. It’s a working prototype, in development. Partner councils will use it in supervised pilots during 2027, before a wider rollout.

Does it connect to our EHCP or route planning systems?

To start with, trainers export a certificate and evidence pack to attach to reviews or upload to your systems. Direct integrations depend on what each system supports, and founding partners get priority.

Do learners need their own phone?

Learners use the Aubin app on a smartphone. Trainers and parents use a web app on any device. We’ll agree the device approach, including managed devices, with each partner.

Can it carry our council’s branding?

Yes. Partners can brand the trainer and parent screens and set up the training stages and fields they use.

What does it cost?

The Development Partner Programme is a fixed price, sized for a single budget line. Get in touch and we’ll send a proposal for your authority.
